Private Pilot License

The following are the most frequently asked questions.

Q - What is the training cost for a Private Pilot's License?

A - The Federal Aviation Laws require at least 40 hours of flight training.  At  today's costs that equals about $3,000.00.  Other expenses - pilot supplies  (books, maps, plotters, maps, etc.) will cost around $75.00.  Medical exams,  - about $75.00 - flight tests - $150.00 - also have to be taken into account.

Very few Private Pilot applicants will finish their training in minimum flight  time.  Therefore, as a ballpark figure, your costs will be about $3,000 to  $4,000.  However the total price varies depending on how often you take  your flight lessons.

Q - Will I have to pay it all at once?

A - No.  We request that you pay for each lesson as you take it.  The average cost  per flight lesson is around $65.00 in a two place trainer (Cessna 152).  We  do not run charge accounts nor do we ask that you pay in advance.

Q - Do you have a package deal?

A - No.  Past experience has proven this type of arrangement to be unfair.  Selling you ground and flight training to qualify for a private license is easily calculated into a cash value, but being qualified for your license (flying hours) and being ready for your flight test are not the same costs.

Q - What should I study before I start my flight training?

A - We suggest you take several lessons first, decide if you like it, then buy the  books.  There is a written test required before you take your flight test.  Most  flight students study on their own - home study courses are available at the  airport.  Formal ground schools are available through classes here at the  airport and at the local vocational schools.

Q - Once I have my license, do I have to buy an airplane to go flying?

A - No, the airplanes that you train in are also available for rent.  Most Airports  have airplanes for rent.  Your license is a federal issuance, therefore, it is  recognized throughout the world.

Q - How about insurance?

A - We carry full insurance coverage on all of our aircraft for flight instruction and  aircraft rental. You are not required to supply your own insurance.

Q - What kind of airplanes am I going to be training in and renting after I receive  my license?

A - Two Cessna 152's - 2 place aircraft

      Two Cessna 172's - 4 place aircraft

One Cessna 182RG - 4 place aircraft with retractable gear

One Cessna 310 - 6 place twin engine aircraft for Multi Engine training

(all airplanes are equipped with voice intercoms and G.P.S. units)

Q - How do I start/ When can I take lessons?

A - The aircraft we have are available for rent every day.  Dual lessons are available Monday through Saturday from 8:00a.m. until dark during the winter and 9:00am until dark during the summer.  Normally, lessons are not available Sundays or after 6:00p.m. - but if this is the only time that you can  train special arrangements can be made. All lessons and rentals are be  appointment.

We offer a $25.00 introductory flight.  This will give you a chance to meet the flight instructors and see our airplanes and facilities.  The instructor will answer all of your questions and take you on a short flight.

When you are ready to start, call for an "Intro Ride" or for your first full flight lesson.
